Dan's mission was to grow the game of tennis in Vermont. He started by planting the seed in our community and through his innovative programs, knowledge of the game and tireless effort, it blossomed into many successful programs offered to thousands of juniors and adults. His ideas were soon adopted by others and his creativity spread throughout the state and New England. Dan's lessons took place on the court but for many they reached far beyond the game of tennis. He shared his passion and love for the game with all of us and it will forever live inside the walls of this tennis pavilion and in our programs. Victory here will always be measured by passion and desire.

Jessie Jones, one of Gabby's high school friends, has been motivated by Dan's battle with cancer to train for a marathon. She will be running in the Long Beach International Marathon in October and is raising money for LLS as a member of the Team in Training. Check out her page!!

Dan Bonfigli Day

The 2008 Dan Bonfigli Day will be on Tuesday, August 19th from 1:30-4:30. Ted Hoehn has graciously offered the facilities of Windridge/Teela-Wooket in Roxbury, Vt. All proceeds will go towards the Daniel Bonfigli Tennis Memorial Fund. Stay tuned for more information. Spread the word!!

Daniel Bonfigli Memorial Tennis Scholarship

An annual $1,000 scholarship was created to honor Dan's lifetime committment to promoting the game of tennis. Applicants need to plan on participating in tennis at the college level, demonstrate financial need and have community service experience. Applicants will also be encouraged to submit a recommendation letter from a current or former tennis instructor or coach. VSAC will be handling the application and selection process and a committee formed by the family will choose the finalist.

Summer Dedications and Honors

On June 21st, we accepted the 2007 Gardner Ward Chase Memorial Award at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, RI. Dan received this award for demonstrating outstanding contributions to New England Tennis.

On June 26th, the tennis center at the Sports and Fitness Edge of Essex was officially named the "Dan Bonfigli Tennis Pavilion" "where victory is measured by passion and desire". It was great to see so many friends come out and join us in this celebration. Click on the link below to see pictures from the evening.
